Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand. You can also find the Embassy on Facebook and Twitter
I have been honoured with the opportunity to serve Ethiopia as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand.
In continuing the long history of bilateral relations between Australia and Ethiopia, which marked their 50th anniversary in 2015, we continue to strengthen our bilateral ties and provide opportunities for increased co-operation and learning from each other’s experiences. I also look to build upon the newly intensified relations with New Zealand after the recent opening of the New Zealand Embassy in Addis Ababa and accreditation of the Embassy in Canberra to New Zealand.
Ethiopia has recently intensified relations with Australia and New Zealand and has seen a number of new agreements between Educational Institutes and investments by companies in Agriculture, Agro-Processing, Resources and many other areas. The Embassy continues to promote co-operation in these and other fields and remains available to assist with any endeavour involving Ethiopia in the Business Diplomacy and Consular Services area.
We look to work with the Diaspora to assist us in sharing the real Ethiopia with the Australian and New Zealand people and promoting greater understanding and co-operation between our nations. The diaspora community have an important place in shaping Ethiopia’s democratic institutions and benefiting from the country’s development, peace and security.
Ethiopia’s renaissance and goal of reaching middle-income status by 2025 can be best achieved by working together and promoting interest in Ethiopia amongst all areas of society. The current Growth and Transformation Plan II offers enormous opportunities and investment incentives to diaspora, businesses and individuals to assist government programs in bringing economic transformation and achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
We welcome all comments and value your input, please have an enjoyable visit and contact the Embassy with any queries you may have.
