የአገልግሎት ጊዜው ያበቃ የኢትዮጵያ ተወላጅነት መታወቂያ ካርድ ለያዛችሁ ትውልድ ኢትዮጵያዊያን በመሉ

ከታህሳስ 1 ቀን 2007 ዓ.ም( እኤአ ድሰምቤር 10, 2014) ጀምሮ የአገልግሎት ጊዜው ያበቃ የኢትዮጵያ ተወላጅነት መታወቂያ ካርድ የያዙ የኢትዮጵያ ተወላጅ የሆኑ የውጭ አገር ዜጎች መታወቂያቸው እንዲታደስላቸው አገልግሎት በሚጠይቁበት ወቅት የቅጣት ክፍያ እንዲከፍሉ ተወስኗል።

ሆኖም ግን የቅጣት ክፍያው ተግባራዊ ከመደረጉ በፊት የመሸጋገሪያ ጊዜ መስጠት የታመነበት በመሆኑ እስከ ሐምሌ 30 ቀን 2007 ዓ.ም( እኤአ ኦገስት 6, 2015) ድረስ ከቅጣት ነፃ የተወላጅነት መታወቂያውን ያለ ቅጣት እንዲያሳድሱ በተወሰነው መሠረት አንዳንድ ትውልድ ኢትዮጵያዊያን እድሉን በመጠቀም በወቅቱ የእድሳት ጥያቄ ያቀረቡ ቢሆንም በርካታ ትውልድ ኢትዮጵያዊያን የእድሉ ተጠቃሚ እንዲሆኑ ለማስቻል የተቀመጠው የጊዜ ገደብ በድጋሚ ላልተወሰነ ጊዜ እንዲራዘም ተወስኗል

በመሆኑም በአውስትራሊያና ኒውዝላንድ ነዋሪ የሆናችሁ እና የአገልግሎት ጊዜው ያበቃ የኢትዮጵያ ተወላጅነት መታወቂያ ካርድ የያዛችሁ ትውልድ ኢትዮጵያዊያን በሙሉ የመታወቂያ እድሳት አገልግሎት ጥያቄያችሁን በተቻለ ፍጥነት ለኤምባሲያችን እንድታቀርቡ በአክብሮት ለማሳወቅ እንወዳለን።

A message to all holders of an expired Ethiopian Origin ID Card.

In December 2014 the Ethiopian government introduced a late fee for those who do not renew their Ethiopian Origin ID Card prior to the expiry date on their ID card.

However, the Ethiopian Government has announced an amnesty for those wishing to renew their expired Ethiopian Origin ID Card.

Applications that are received by the Embassy will not be charged late fees. This amnesty is valid for an undefined period and is subject to change at any time. Thus, please apply to renew your Ethiopian Origin ID Card as soon as possible.

 

Information about the ID Card:

  • The Ethiopian Origin ID Card is valid for 5 years.
  • The Embassy would advise the bearers of the ID Card to apply for renewal at least one month prior to the date of expiry.
  • Late fees apply if you don’t renew your Ethiopian Origin ID on time.
  • Ethiopian Origin ID Cards are granted on a case by case basis for those who intend to invest in Ethiopia, ID Cards will be issued at the discretion of the Embassy of Ethiopia and Ethiopian Immigration.
  • Unless the ID Card is renewed before 6 months of the date of expiry, it will be considered willingly returned.
  • Late fees apply to all ID Cards which are not renewed until after their expiry date, fees are detailed below. Late fees are payable once the applicant lodges a renewal application.
  • All services fees are not refundable.
  • All applications must use your full name, applications which don’t contain your full name will be rejected.

 Apply for  ID Card for yourself:

  • Two certified copies of your current passport.
  • Two certified copies of ONE of the following documents:
    • Old Ethiopian passport of the applicant.
    • Birth certificate of the applicant which is authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
    • Legal inheritance document issued by Ethiopian court and authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
    • Adoption document issued by Ethiopian court and authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
    • A document issued by Ethiopian court which states that the applicant is Ethiopian by origin and authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
    • A document issued by Ethiopian court which states that the applicant’s father, grandfather or great grandfather is Ethiopian by origin and has been authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • 3 recent passport sized photographs with the applicants name of the reverse side.
  • Two copies of the completed Ethiopian Origin ID Card application form (Click here to download the application form).
  • Provide your fingerprints, you must provide the original fingerprints taken and a copy.( click here to download the fingerprint capturing form).
  • Pay ID Card application fee, pay service fees in cash at the Ethiopian Embassy or by Australia Post Money Order or International Bank Cheque (Australia Post Money Orders and Bank Cheques must be payable to the “Embassy of Ethiopia”).
  • A prepaid self-addressed trackable and registered envelope for the return of the new ID Card, please keep a copy of the tracking number of the return envelope to follow up your application.

 Apply for an ID Card for the spouse of a person of Ethiopian Origin:

  •  Two certified copies of the applicants current Passport.
  • Two certified copies of a valid spouse’s  Ethiopian Origin ID Card.
  • Two certified copies of the Marriage certificate. The marriage certificate must be authenticated through the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (if the Marriage took place in Ethiopia), or through the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (if the marriage took place in Australia), or the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs (if the Marriage took place in New Zealand). The marriage must have been valid for AT LEAST 2 years prior to the date of the application.
  • 3 recent colour passport sized photographs with the applicants name on the reverse side.
  • Two completed copies of the Ethiopian Origin ID application form (Click here to download the application form).
  • Two copies of a filled out affidavit of marital status form filled out by the applicant (click here to download the affidavit of marital status form).
  • Two copies of a filled out affidavit of marital status form filled out by the spouse of the applicant (click here to download the affidavit of marital).

Note: If you are renewing an ID Card that was obtained as a spouse of person of Ethiopian Origin you will need to provide a letter written by person of Ethiopian Origin requesting a renewal of the ID Card.

 Apply for an Ethiopian Origin ID Card for a child under the age of 18:

  •  Two certified copies of valid Ethiopian Origin ID Card of the applicants parent.
  • Two certified copies of the valid passport of the child.
  • Two copies of the authenticated birth certificate of the child.
  • Three recent photographs of the child, with the child’s name on the reverse side.
  • Two copies of the completed application from (Click here to download the application form).
  • Fingerprints of the child if they are over the age of 14, you would need to provide the originals and a copy of them.( click here to download the fingerprint capturing form).
  • Pay ID Card application fee, pay service fees in cash at the Ethiopian Embassy or by Australia Post Money Order or International Bank Cheque (Australia Post Money Orders and Bank Cheques must be payable to the “Ethiopian Embassy”).
  • A prepaid self-addressed trackable and registered envelope for the return of the new ID Card, please keep a copy of the tracking number of the return envelope to follow up your application.

 Apply to renew an Ethiopian Origin ID Card:

 Late fees will be charged for renewing an Ethiopian Origin ID Card after the expiry date.

  • Two certified copies of the expired Ethiopian Origin ID Card.
  • Two certified copies of ONE of the following documents: old Ethiopian passport of the applicant , or birth certificate of the applicant which is authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or legal inheritance document issued by Ethiopian court and authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or adoption document issued by Ethiopian court and authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or A document issued by Ethiopian court which states that the applicant is Ethiopian by origin and authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or A document issued by Ethiopian court which states that the applicant’s father, grandfather or great grandfather is Ethiopian by origin and has been authenticated by Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Two certified copies of the applicants valid Passport.
  • Three Passport sized photographs with the applicants name on the reverse side.
  • Two completed copies of the renewal form (Click here to download the renewal form).
  • If the applicant has not provided their fingerprints with their previous application they must provide their original fingerprints and a copy of them. furthermore a child  over the age of 14 should have provided a fingerprint
  • pay service fees in cash at the Ethiopian Embassy or by Australia Post Money Order or International Bank Cheque (Australia Post Money Orders and Bank Cheques must be payable to the “Ethiopian Embassy”).
  • A prepaid self-addressed trackable and registered envelope for the return of the new Passport, please keep a copy of the tracking number to follow up your application.

  • Pay any required late fees.
    • Late fees will be charged at the following rate:
      • 3.90 AUD per day from 1 up to  15 days.
      • 6.50 AUD per day from  15 up to 30 days
  • If you are renewing an ID Card that was obtained as a spouse of person of Ethiopian Origin you will need to provide a letter written by person of Ethiopian Origin requesting a renewal of your ID Card explaining the marriage is valid.

 Apply to replace a lost or worn out Ethiopian Origin ID Card:

 Two completed copies of the ID Card replacement form (Click here to download the ID Card replacement form).

  • Two certified copies of a valid passport.
  • Two certified copies of the lost or worn out Ethiopian Origin ID Card (if available).
  • Two copies of the applicants old Ethiopian Passport or Ethiopian Birth Certificate which has been authenticated by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • A police report showing the Ethiopian Origin ID Card was lost.
  • Three recent passport sized photographs with the applicant s name on the back.
  • Pay ID Card application fee, pay service fees in cash at the Ethiopian Embassy or by Australia Post Money Order or International Bank Cheque (Australia Post Money Orders and Bank Cheques must be payable to the “Ethiopian Embassy”).
  • A prepaid self-addressed trackable and registered envelope for the return of the new Passport, please keep a copy of the tracking number to follow up your application.
